Fat Zach’s Pizza is expanding to Tacoma, with the Washington-based pizza chain preparing to open its first location in the city this fall at Tacoma Mall.
The restaurant will open at 4502 S Steele Street, taking over the former MOD Pizza space across from BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. The opening will mark the company’s fourth brick-and-mortar restaurant.
Owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Zach and Shanna Johns, Fat Zach’s Pizza began as a food truck in 2019 before expanding into restaurants in Sumner, downtown Puyallup, and South Hill.
Family-owned chain brings specialty pies and customizable pizzas to Tacoma
The company has built a following for its oversized pizzas, specialty pies, and family-focused atmosphere. Its menu includes traditional favorites, creative combinations, wings, salads, and desserts.
Specialty pizzas include the Fat Zach, topped with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and bacon; the #NBD, featuring a ranch base, mozzarella, and pickles; and The BamBam with a sweet chili BBQ base, bacon, garlic chicken, red onion, roasted red peppers, pineapple, and mozzarella.
Other options include the Cappy’s CBR, featuring garlic chicken, bacon, and ranch, and Just Peachy with a garlic olive oil base, bacon crumble, basil, feta cheese, and balsamic glaze. Customers can also build their own pizzas with a choice of crusts, sauces, meats, cheeses, and other toppings.
Beyond pizza, the menu features traditional and boneless wings, garlic bread, breadsticks, salads, cannoli, and other desserts. Beer, wine, hard seltzers and canned cocktails are also available at select locations.
In addition to its restaurants, Fat Zach’s operates food trucks for catering events, fairs, and festivals. The company also offers catering, including its trademark charcuterie tables.
The exact opening date for the Tacoma restaurant has not been announced.
