Firefighters rescued a mother and child from a fourth-floor balcony during a Saturday night fire at the High Grove apartments in unincorporated Snohomish County, according to South County Fire.

Crews with South County Fire arrived at the apartment complex, located north of Lake Stickney, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Firefighters contained the flames to an exterior hallway, preventing the fire from spreading inside any apartment units.

No injuries were reported.

Although the fire did not enter individual apartments, 15 residents were displaced due to smoke and water damage. Support 7 and the American Red Cross Northwest Region are assisting the affected residents with immediate needs.

South County Fire issued a statement following the rescue. “We are grateful a mother and child were safely helped from their balcony during a Saturday night apartment fire and that no one was injured,” the fire department said.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
