Couple pistol-whipped by robbers in Covington home invasion

The King County Sheriff’s Office said a husband and wife were pistol whipped when three robbers broke into their Covington home early Tuesday.

Just after 1 a.m., a 911 call was received from a cellphone in which someone in the background was heard yelling “where’s the safe?”

Deputies were dispatched to the call as a possible robbery in progress. Multiple deputies went to the home in the 25700 block of 160th Pl SE. As deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle parked down the street from the home with its lights on.

As deputies were walking up to the house, three suspects ran from the scene in different directions. One of the suspects was carrying a rifle, which he dropped while jumping over a fence. The rifle was recovered by deputies along with stolen items from the home.

While officers were running after the robbers, one of the suspects ran to the car that had been parked nearby. A deputy chased him, but the suspect was able to get to the car and drive off. The suspect crashed the car nearby and then ran away.

When deputies talked with the victims, they learned that three suspects kicked in the front door and went directly to the master bedroom.

The couple told police they were both hit in the head with a rifle and pistol before the suspects ransacked the bedroom while demanding to know the location of the “safe” and the “money.”

Both victims received head wounds but were conscious and able to speak with deputies and medics.

Two children, about 8 and 6 years old, were in the home but were not hurt. The husband and the wife were taken to Covington Multi-Care for their injuries.

A K-9 unit that was searching for the robbers found some clothes believed to have been discarded by one of the suspects.

They were all described as wearing masks and hooded jackets. One suspect was wearing black, one was wearing red, and the third was wearing white.
