Feb 14, 2017, 7:35 PM

Authorities are investigating after Arlington police shot a 17-year-old girl who was reportedly armed with a knife.

Arlington police responded to a disturbance call in a parking lot near a coffee stand at East Division Street and North Olympic at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Police told KIRO 7 News’ Patranya Bhoolsuwan that when officers arrived on the scene the 17-year-old was fighting with someone she is dating.

Police separated the two and found that the female was armed with a knife. The teen was then shot by police.

It’s not yet clear what events led up to shooting.

She was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. KIRO 7 News talked to a man who said he’s related to the girl. He said police could have used other options to deal with the situation.

No officers were injured.

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, a team of detectives from various Snohomish County law enforcement agencies who investigate police use of force incidents, is investigating.
