Puyallup brothers to meet Warren Buffett

May 13, 2012, 5:38 PM | Updated: 5:43 pm

Two young brothers from Puyallup have come up with an idea that caught Warren Buffett’s attention.

They want to manufacture a jacket that uses solar power to recharge cellphones and other small portable electronics when you zip the device into a pocket.

Lundberg“We got the idea for the windbreaker because our dad, being a business owner and lover of the outdoors, is not always near a charger,” says 12-year-old Anthony Lundberg.

“We never want to hear him complain about his phone dying because of a low battery again,” adds 9-year-old Justin.

The Lundberg boys are in Buffett’s Secret Millionaires challenge.

Their idea, “Super Clothes” is one of three finalists, from more than 3,000 submitted.

The jacket they want to create will charge cell phones when they are placed inside the pocket and zipped.

The fabric of the jacket has tiny solar panels that transform sunlight into energy and is also water repellant.

If they win the contest, they hope Buffett will help them market the idea to clothing companies such as Columbia Sportswear, North Face and Nike.

The boys’ proud mom, Barb Lundberg, says they’ll fly to Nebraska next Monday for an interview with Warren Buffett. She says 80 percent of the contest hinges on the interview, the other is determined by an online vote here.
