Girls Rock! Seattle’s Jessica Dobson joins the Shins…but plays live for us first

IMG 3474You might not know the name, but when you see and hear Jessica Dobson play you never forget her.

The Seattle guitarist’s resume reads like a who’s who of rock greatness: Beck, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Spoon and now The Shins, who she’s joining as the band gears up for a world tour with an all new lineup (they’ll be one of the big draws of the upcoming Sasquatch Festival.)

She got national attention for a jawdropping solo on the Pink Floyd classic “Breathe” when the new Shins kicked off Jimmy Fallon’s Pink Floyd Week. But despite all the acclaim, Jessica remains humble and dedicated to her own local band Deep Sea Diver.

Jessica stopped by the 97.3 KIRO FM studios to talk about Beck, the Shins, Deep Sea Diver and being a female shredder in a predominantly man’s world. Check out our extended conversation and her performance of two songs here:
