Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is writing a book that, according to his co-author, will tackle “the NFL, racism, sexism, intersectionality, and athletes being no longer silenced.”

The book, titled “Things to Make White People Uncomfortable,” will be released next year.

Co-author and sports editor for the progressive magazine “The Nation,” Dave Zirin says the book will be released next year.

Zirin tweeted that the title is meant to be satirical and biting and that Bennett is one of the funniest people he’s ever met and people will feel that.

“Can already say that Michael Bennett is one of the most hilarious humans I’ve ever met,” Zirin said. “Bill Hicks in shoulder pads. People will feel that.”

Bennett is not afraid to speak his mind. He’s been vocal about social issues, including police-related violence around the country and the Black Lives Matter movement. He had the following to say when he was told to “stick to football” last year:

“When people tell me to stick to football and don’t speak on things that are going on, they’re basically telling me … don’t be black. That’s not your problem. You’re not a part of that black community, you’re a part of the other black community – the NBA black community, the NFL black community. You know, the get-to-have-it-all black community. So forget about the other black community,” Bennett said.

According to a Facebook event page, Bennett will host a benefit on Saturday for Charleena Lyles, the black pregnant mother who was killed by Seattle police on Father’s Day.
