Warren Moon’s attorney says that the allegations of sexual harassment against the former Seahawk will fall apart when they have their day in court.

“There are certain claims by certain people from time-to-time, we’ve seen some of those recently … that are legitimate,” said Moon’s attorney Dan Fears. “But there are many claims that are not legitimate. Simply because an accusation is made, doesn’t mean there is any truth to it. Unfortunately, the timing of this is such that it is during a period of time when other accusations are being made regarding other individuals.”

“There are certain individuals I have litigated against that are opportunistic,” he said. “… This is a case where many people will step forward and testify that Warren did not engage in sexual harassment. We look forward to our day proving that.”

Fears spoke with KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson about recent allegations that Moon sexually harassed a former personal assistant, Wendy Haskell. Moon has said the allegations are not true. Moon has not received a copy of the lawsuit yet, Fears said, but he is aware of the claims. Fears has seen the lawsuit documentation.

“Warren was quite shocked by it and completely disagrees with the allegations,” Fears said. “These are untrue. Warren is an amazingly principled guy and wants to be heard on these. He views these as allegations that are just wrong and false. He did not sexually harass Wendy Haskell.”

“Ultimately, Warren will be able to respond to all the specific allegations and there are people who know the true story, not just Warren, but there are other people who know the whole situation and know that Ms. Haskell was not sexually harassed.”

Fears noted that Haskell had a friend-based relationship with Moon for a couple of years, including before she went to work for him.

Fears said that since the matter is in litigation, he could not speak to many specifics of the case, including the exact nature of Moon’s relationship with Haskell. Fears did say that their relationship was not “romantic” as he understands it.

“His relationship with her was one of being a friend before she worked for him and he was a friend and colleague during the time she worked for him,” Fears said. “And she only worked for him for about 3 or 4 months. She started in July 2017.”
