Fed up with traffic, man ditches ride on Alaskan Way Viaduct

Gridlock caused by a crash on the Alaskan Way Viaduct lasted for hours on Thursday in Seattle. (KIRO 7)

A suitcase-toting man did what hundreds if not thousands of other people wish they could do after a box truck crashed on the Alaskan Way Viaduct Thursday afternoon, causing citywide gridlock.
The man, who was likely the passenger in a vehicle, was filmed walking down the southbound lanes of the viaduct.

The box truck crashed in the southbound lanes of State Route 99 on the viaduct around 1:30 p.m. The Seattle Department of Transportation closed all southbound lanes. A tow truck removed the truck around 2:30 p.m.
The viaduct partially reopened by 3:30 p.m. All lanes reopened around 7 p.m. Though the southbound lanes partially reopened just a few hours after the crash, traffic backups remained well into the evening.
