John Curley could be Donald Trump’s next Peanut in Chief

If Donald Trump becomes the next President of the United States,there’s a chance food will be saltier.

In the 1980s, Trump had a run-in with KIRO Radio’s John Curley on the streets of Manhattan. It wasn’t a typical meet-and-greet.

Curley was dressed as Mr. Peanut in a rough neighborhood. The radio host was handing out samples for the owner of a bodega. It was a job that required a lot of standing and sweating.

As the Peanut with giant gloves waved to people and twirled his cane, Trump walked by with a group of business associates.

“‘What’s with the peanuts?'” Trump asked Curley.

Gazing through a giant bow-tie, Curley responded in a muffled voice that he was giving away peanuts.

“‘They’re salty,'” Trump told Curley. “‘Here’s what you do, make them saltier and give them away for free. Then charge $5 for a soda.'”

It could have been good advice if Curley had any say in the business. Alas, he was just a man in a Mr. Peanut suit.

However, if Trump is elected president, Curley has a shot at a very specific job in the White House, KIRO Radio’s Tom Tangney pointed out.

“You can be his Peanut in Chief,” he told Curley.
