An Everett man was taken into custody in connection with suspicious packages discovered at military bases near Washington D.C., CBS News reports.

Initial reports stated the suspect was taken into custody in Seattle. The 43-year-old was taken into custody by FBI agents from Seattle and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office on Monday, March 26.

The packages were found at Fort Belvoir, Fort McNair, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Virginia, and the CIA in Langley.

The package sent to McNair in D.C. tested positive for black powder and, according to CBS, had a fuse. The packages sent to Anacostia-Bolling and the naval warfare center did not contain explosives, according to CBS News.

Included with the packages were letters described as “disturbing and rambling,” NBC reports.

The investigation continues. According to the FBI, it is possible more packages were mailed to processing facilities in D.C.

The suspect is due in court in Seattle Tuesday afternoon.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
