The Washington State Patrol says a 38-year-old Kirkland woman was killed when she drove the wrong way on Highway 522 near Bothell and collided head-on with another vehicle.

Trooper Dominic Ledesma says it happened near Interstate 405 just before 6 a.m. Friday when the woman was driving east in the westbound lanes.

Ledesma says investigators don’t know why she was in the wrong lane. They don’t believe she was impaired.

The other driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
