Bill Gates is the richest American

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates tops the latest list of richest Americans. According to Forbes magazine’s annual ranking of the 400 wealthiest people in the country , he has assets of $54 billion making him number one. This is the 17th year he’s made the list.

Warren Buffett, the chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway, ranks second in the U.S. with $45 billion. The total worth of the 400 wealthiest people rose by eight percent to $1.37 trillion.
