A 14-time convicted felon wanted for domestic violence was arrested after traveling more than 120 mph in an attempt to escape police.

Deputies with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect driving Sunday. Due to the suspect having a felony domestic violence warrant, the deputies tried to pull him over. The suspect sped off, traveling more than 120 mph in north Olympia.

“WSP (Washington State Patrol) troopers and their airplane, Smokey, responded as deputies and officers from Olympia and Lacey attempted to get spikes set throughout the area,” Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders stated. “After an unsuccessful tactical vehicle interaction, the suspect fled down a dead-end road and bailed on foot. At one point, the suspect tried to hide in a dumpster, but it was locked.”

Despite attempting “his best impression” to be an uninvolved pedestrian, deputies arrested the suspect. He was booked into jail for attempting to elude police, driving on a suspended license, and his second-degree domestic violence assault warrant.

The sheriff’s office discovered he was a 14-time convicted felon for crimes including four separate convictions of third-degree assault, four convictions of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, second-degree possession of stolen property, multiple charges of auto theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, and escape.

“He has also been convicted of six misdemeanors for driving on a suspended license, assault in the fourth degree, resisting arrest, and violating a no-contact order,” Sanders wrote.

The suspect’s bail was set at $1,500.

“For $1,500 worth of bail money, this 14-time felon will be back out on the streets for another chance to skip his court date and run from police again,” Sanders added.
