The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the suspects who robbed a teenage boy in Parkland and then shot him to death in front of his girlfriend.

Pierce County deputies received calls at approximately 7:15 p.m. Sunday that a 16-year-old boy was lying in the roadway at the 10200 block of Sheridan Avenue S. in Parkland after he was shot. When deputies arrived at the scene, they began life-saving efforts on the victim, who was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

“Preliminary information indicates the victim was walking with his girlfriend when a vehicle approached and called him over,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office stated. “Suspects in the vehicle robbed the victim of some jewelry, shot him, then fled the scene.”

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to share any surveillance video that was captured between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday within a five-mile radius of 102nd Street S and Sheridan Avenue S. in Parkland. Deputies are hoping surveillance footage either captured the shooting itself, or the suspects fleeing the scene.

“This remains a very active investigation,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office stated. “Anyone with surveillance footage or information about the suspects is asked to contact our office and speak with a detective.”

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
