Calvin Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 340 months in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to first-degree murder for the 2024 homicide of his ex-partner in Auburn.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. on February 14, 2024, Auburn Police Department (APD) officers responded to reports of a dead woman located near the 3700 block of West Valley Highway North, APD announced.

Jackson hid in his ex-partner’s vehicle before homicide

As officers arrived, they discovered a woman in a wooded area near the roadway. Surveillance video filmed Jackson arriving in the woman’s vehicle. It also showed Jackson removing the woman from the vehicle, shooting her, and dragging her into the bushes nearby.

Earlier in the morning, the woman had been reported missing out of Kent by her ex-partner, Jackson. Detectives conducted several interviews throughout the investigation.

While interviewing Jackson, detectives obtained digital evidence from his phone indicating his location at the time of the homicide. Police responded to that location and found the woman’s vehicle.

The investigation then revealed that Jackson had concealed himself inside the woman’s vehicle and waited for her as she prepared to leave for work. Once she entered the vehicle, he shot her through the front seat.

After additional interviews, Jackson admitted to killing the woman after a recent argument and learning about her new relationship.

Jackson was taken into custody on February 15, 2024, and was later charged with murder in the first degree. He entered a guilty plea.

“This case reflects the dedication and persistence of detectives and patrol officers who worked diligently to bring justice to the victim and her family,” APD stated.
