A 25-year-old man was arrested for vehicular assault after a high-speed crash involving three vehicles in downtown Bellevue on Saturday night.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., the Bellevue Police Department (BPD) was dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of 110th Avenue N.E. and N.E. 8th Street, BPD announced.

Several witnesses stated that the suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on N.E. 8th at a high rate of speed before it struck several vehicles at the intersection.

Nobody involved in the collision sustained life-threatening injuries. Any individuals who sustained injuries were either treated by the Bellevue Fire Department at the scene or transported to an area hospital for additional evaluations.

Bellevue officers had flagged the suspect’s vehicle earlier during a noise-focused patrol

Before the crash, BPD officers implemented proactive patrols focused on addressing vehicles with modified exhausts. During the emphasis patrol, officers identified the suspect driving a vehicle with a loud muffler near the intersection of 108 Avenue N.E. and N.E. 4th Street. BPD noted that law enforcement was unable to locate the vehicle until the crash occurred.

The suspect was arrested for one count of vehicular assault and booked into the King County Jail. BPD noted the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

“The Bellevue Police Department continues to make speeding incidents and noise violations a priority,” BPD stated. “Since the start of the year, the department’s Traffic Unit has implemented its Safer Roads Initiative where officers conduct routine proactive patrols to address reckless driving and noise complaints throughout the city.”

In June, BPD issued 69% more speeding citations (380) than in June 2025 (225). BPD noted it had also given 143 citations for distracted driving in June, compared to 71 in June 2025.

Community members have been asked to contact BPD if they witnessed incidents of speeding or noise violations by either calling the department’s non-emergency line at (425) 577-5656 or emailing bellevuepd@bellevuewa.gov.
