A shooting involving a Bellevue Police Department officer occurred overnight Friday in Bellevue.

The King County Independent Force Investigation Team (KC-IFIT) is currently investigating the incident.

At approximately 12:31 a.m. Friday, an on-duty police officer was involved in a shooting on the 15800 block of Northup Way, the Bellevue Police Department confirmed.

“No officers or other community members were injured,” the department stated.

Online crime reporter Steve Hickey, who goes by “Photog Steve” on social media, was at the scene of the Bellevue shooting, relaying available information to KIRO Newsradio.

“This standoff has been going since the seven or eight o’clock hour yesterday,” Hickey told KIRO Newsradio. “Mental health crisis. They had a past history with the guy. This time, though, he started with a sword towards a neighbor of some kind. Then they show up and he goes inside and starts shooting at them with a [rifle-calibered weapon] that is not regulated. You don’t have to fill out paperwork to buy it. He had three of them in there. That’s why they went to lethal.”
