A 27-year-old man was arrested after he reportedly climbed 20 to 30 stories high on a construction crane in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood.
A witness reported the man around 12:35 a.m. Tuesday after seeing him from their balcony, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) told KIRO Newsradio.
Police found the man and determined that he posed a serious hazard to people below the reach of the crane because he was so high up.
Officers closed the streets east and west of N 36th St.
SPD’s Hostage Negotiator Team, the Seattle Fire Department, and an outside agency were called in to assist.
The man initially refused to come down but was eventually guided down and taken into custody.
The man allegedly entered the secured, fenced construction zone and climbed over a wall before climbing up the crane.
He was transported and booked into King County Jail for investigation of criminal trespass and reckless endangerment.
