One person was injured in a drive-by shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon in Seattle’s Rainier Valley neighborhood.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), someone in a car shot at the driver of a Tesla, spraying that car and multiple others with bullets.

Multiple intersections were closed as Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers investigated three separate crime scenes. Officers recovered dozens of shell casings and bullet damage to a nearby business at the intersection of Rainier Avenue S. and S. Othello Street.

More ballistic evidence was found at a second scene, near Holly Park Drive S. and S. Myrtle Place. The third crime scene was directly in front of the South Precinct. There, they found one of the involved cars, the Tesla that sustained significant bullet damage.

“The driver of this car, an 18-year-old man, did not have any injuries. The passenger, also 18, sustained a grazing gunshot wound to his head,” SPD stated. “Firefighters arrived to treat his injury, and medics took him to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.”

SPD determined the suspects fired on the Tesla from another vehicle at the Rainier and Othello intersection. The victims sped away from the intersection towards the precinct before being intercepted by officers, while the suspect vehicle fled the area.

No arrests have been made, as both SPD officers and deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office search for suspects.
