Father who reported his daughter missing arrested for sexual abuse

A Lake Stevens man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing his daughter for years after initially reporting she went missing Monday.
According to court documents obtained by The Everett Herald, the daughter told a counselor at a school she attended that her father had been sexually abusing her. She was placed in protective custody and interviewed by a social worker. During a subsequent child forensic interview, she revealed the abuse began when she was in the third grade.
The father, 38, posted on Facebook that his daughter was missing after she failed to return home after school.
Just after 5:30 p.m. Monday, officers arrested the father. After he was transported to the Lake Stevens Police Department, he confessed he was sexually attracted to children, according to court documents obtained by The Everett Herald. The suspect corroborated the victim’s statement and told police he “needed help to stop hurting her.”
According to The Everett Herald, the father then wrote a letter to his daughter apologizing for what he did to her.
The father currently faces charges of child molestation and rape.
