Three arrested for $50,000 copper wire theft in Grays Harbor

Three suspects are in custody after stealing approximately $50,000 worth of copper wire near Hoquiam, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office (GHSO) announced.
Deputies began an investigation on Aug. 16 after a Public Utility District report indicated the copper wire had been stolen.

Throughout the GHSO investigation, two suspects were identified after they sold portions of the stolen copper wire.
Both suspects were booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail on Aug. 22 for trafficking stolen property (first degree) and possession of stolen property (first degree).
One day later, GHSO identified a third suspect in connection with the stolen copper wire. The third suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail on Aug. 23. The charges included theft (first degree), trafficking stolen property (first degree), and possession of stolen property (first degree).
Deputies served three search warrants, two on vehicles and one on a hotel room in Aberdeen. The stolen copper was recovered from the search warrants.
“This case highlights the teamwork and persistence of our deputies in recovering stolen property and holding offenders accountable,” the GHSO stated.
