Authorities with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office discovered human remains after they were led to a shallow grave near Mount Rainier.
A person of interest in a case involving a woman’s disappearance in 2021 was interviewed over the weekend. Allegedly, the person of interest led authorities to a shallow grave in Lewis County, where human remains were found. According to the sheriff’s office, the remains are believed to belong to Amanda Green, a woman reported missing in Tacoma in 2021.
Green was reportedly pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Thurston County deputies received information a year later that she had been murdered in the Yelm area.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation into this person of interest in March.
After the remains were found, the person of interest was booked into Thurston County Jail for second-degree murder, unlawful disposal of human remains, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The Thurston County medical examiner is working to positively identify the remains.
