Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating an early morning shooting on I-5 near the King-Pierce County line.
WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said that just after 2 a.m., they received a call from a person saying they were shot near the Federal Way rest area.
“A passenger in, I believe, a Honda was struck in both legs,” Johnson said.
Investigators are looking for a black SUV.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma. While Johnson doesn’t have an update on the victim’s condition, the injuries are not life-threatening.
It is unknown whether the people in the two vehicles knew each other, as of this reporting.
WSP is asking anyone in the area for information. If anyone noticed anything suspicious, or a dark-colored SUV speeding away from the scene, they are asked to contact WSP or call 911.
