Kent man shoots and kills 70-year-old father before taking his own life

A 48-year-old man shot and killed his father in Kent Tuesday night before taking his own life, the Kent Police Department confirmed.
Just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kent patrol officers were dispatched to a residence at the 27100 block of 31st Avenue S.after receiving reports of a shooting in that area. When they arrived at the scene, they found two men “with gunshot wounds obviously deceased.”
“Initial information from a witness is that the suspect, a 48-year-old male, shot his 70-year-old father before taking his own life,” the Kent Police Department stated. “Both son and father are believed to live at the residence where the shooting occurred.”
Police confirmed there is no threat to the neighborhood. Detectives are investigating the scene and conducting the homicide investigation to determine what led to this fatal shooting.
