Deputies: Man pulls up to stranger’s house in golf cart with dog passenger to light garage on fire

A man has been booked into the Kitsap County Jail for allegedly lighting a stranger’s garage on fire while the person was home.
On Aug. 4, a man in plaid can be seen on surveillance video riding up a driveway in unincorporated Port Orchard, the sheriff’s office said.
The man had a dog with him and can be seen putting a lit torch to the garage and putting flammable liquid on the fire, deputies said.
Within minutes, the garage was fully engulfed in flames, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said.
The homeowner was home at the time when his garage was set on fire. The sheriff’s office said the homeowner was not hurt in the fire, and that he didn’t know who the suspect was or why he was targeted.
The fire caused about $150,000 to $175,000 worth of damage, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect was arrested nearby and was booked for suspicion of first-degree arson and second-degree assault.
