Seattle man charged with murder in deadly Kent apartment complex shooting

A Seattle man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting in Kent.
Robert Bernard Ousley, 23, faces first-degree murder charges for the May 24 killing of 25-year-old Marcus Pressley at an apartment complex.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been retaliation for the killing of one of Ousley’s friends, who he reportedly claimed was killed by Pressley’s friends.
Shooting happened at Chandlers Bay Apartments
The shooting happened just before 4 a.m. on May 24, according to charging documents.
“Kent Police Officers were dispatched to a shooting in the parking lot of the Chandlers Bay Apartments located at 8708 S. 235th Pl.,” the documents stated. “Reporting parties advised that they heard several gunshots and saw a victim lying on the ground that they believed had been struck by gunfire.”
Officers found Pressley with a gunshot wound to his chest, his white T-shirt saturated with blood. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died at the scene.
“What prosecutors allege is that he fired several rounds from a 9mm in the victim’s back,” Casey McNerthney, a spokesperson for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, said.
An autopsy later showed Pressley had nine entry wounds to his back. A witness told police Ousley had threatened their life if they spoke to authorities.
Ousley said immediately after the shooting, “Marcus’s homies are the ones that killed my homie two years ago,” according to a witness. “Ousley kept saying he is ’21’ and Marcus is ‘D Dub.'”
“From my law enforcement training and experience, as well as knowledge from others, it is my understanding that this is a reference to possible gang association,” Kent Police Detective Garrett Gunderson wrote in the certification for the determination of probable cause.

Ousley under investigation for deadly crash on June 4
Ousley is also under investigation in connection with a high-speed crash on June 4 in Federal Way along SR 18 that left two people dead, including a four-year-old child and an 18-year-old who was a witness to the homicide.
Ousley was injured, as was another woman. It is not known if she will survive, according to court documents.
“These are two really serious tragedies,” McNerthney said.
So far, no charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
