One person was shot after 20 to 70 gunshots were heard outside of an apartment building in Pierce County, prompting a police search for the at-large suspect or suspects.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., dozens of calls to 911 reported shots being fired at the Golden Given Terrace Apartments, and one victim had been shot, according to KIRO 7.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Between 20 and 70 shots and then shortly after that, we were contacted by someone stating that a male had been shot,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Deputy Carly Cappetto said. “The 26-year-old male victim was shot multiple times. It was fortunately non-life-threatening injuries.”
More than 20 shell casings found, multiple vehicles hit by gunfire
The PCSO preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting may have been between two parties, with the victim being caught up in the crossfire.
“We have two groups of people or two suspects that were shooting at each other, and this poor victim got caught in between all that gunfire,” PCSO Deputy Carly Cappetto said.
There is currently no available information on the suspect, and no one is in custody as of this reporting. All parties involved in the shooting successfully fled the scene.
More than 20 shell casings were found scattered across the parking lot. Multiple unoccupied vehicles were hit by the gunfire, shattering the windows.
“A down victim, casings of bullets all over the parking lot, multiple vehicles that were hit, windows broken out,” Deputy Cappetto said.
The victim who was shot is expected to survive.
