Tacoma officer-involved shooting kills man during domestic assault response Sunday

A deadly officer-involved shooting that happened in Tacoma on Sunday is under investigation.
Officers with the Tacoma Police Department were called to respond to a domestic assault incident Sunday afternoon, just before 3 p.m., on S Stevens Street. When they responded, shots were fired.
“At that point, officers rendered aid to the adult male suspect,” Tacoma Police Department Public Information Officer Shelbie Boyd told KIRO 7. “Tacoma Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.”
Only one officer opened fire and has been placed on leave.
There is no additional information about the call that led up to the shooting.
No officers were injured. The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations is looking into the use of deadly force in this case.
