A pedestrian was hit and killed by a truck in unincorporated Port Orchard late Tuesday night, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Bethel Road S.E. and S.E. Van Skiver Road at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday. The victim, a 41-year-old man from Silverdale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“[Deputies] questioned the truck’s driver, a 24-year-old Port Orchard man, who said he was southbound on Bethel Rd. and did not see the pedestrian before hitting him,” the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office stated.
After conducting field sobriety and portable breathalyzer tests, deputies determined the driver was not impaired.
The Kitsap Interagency Traffic Team is taking over the investigation.
