A husband returned home from work to find his wife, son, and dog dead with apparent gunshot wounds in Pierce County on Tuesday.

At approximately 1:27 p.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies responded to reports of a homicide in the 7400 block of 185th Avenue N.W. on the Key Peninsula, PCSO announced.

As deputies arrived, they confirmed the reports and found a dead male, female, and dog in a bedroom.

“He went to work that morning and didn’t feel good about the whole situation, and so he left work early, and unfortunately, he came home to everybody dead,” PCSO Deputy Carly Cappetto told KIRO Newsradio.

Mental health, addiction cited in Pierce County tragedy

The husband stated that he and his wife had allowed their son to stay the night at their home, and the son had been struggling with addiction and his mental health.

“All of us should look out for the people around us,” Deputy Cappetto said. “If you see a family member or friend struggling with mental illness, depression, or addiction, do what you can get them help.”

PCSO recovered a firearm from the scene and noted that there do not appear to be any outstanding suspects.

“We are not looking for any suspects. Everybody is contained to this scene. The husband has been cooperative,” Deputy Cappetto said.

Although there are currently no suspects, the investigation remains active.
