Pipe bomb discovered in Bremerton home following resident’s death

A pipe bomb was found underneath a bed inside a Bremerton home Tuesday, following the death of a man who recently lived there, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) announced.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the pipe bomb was discovered at a home located in the 3000 block of Nipsic Ave. N.E. in an unincorporated part of Bremerton.

The pipe bomb was roughly four inches long and wrapped up in tape, and had a fuse sticking out of one end.
KCSO deputies notified the Washington State Patrol (WSP) Interagency Bomb Squad, which responded to the scene to conduct an x-ray on the device.
The bomb squad determined that the device was filled with a powdered substance, which was believed to be explosive.
The bomb squad subsequently took possession of the device to be safely disposed of.
