A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving an electric unicycle while under the influence of alcohol on Saturday in unincorporated Port Orchard.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputy located a man riding an electric unicycle on Bethel Road, noting he was moving erratically, KCSO announced.

The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect paused briefly before continuing on and disappearing from sight.

Roughly 30 minutes later, deputies located a man standing near the side of the road, though he did not have the unicycle with him. The man allegedly crashed the electric unicycle in a ravine on the 2900 block of Bethel Road S.E., where deputies found it.

While deputies talked with the suspect, a strong odor of alcohol was present, indicating he was intoxicated. KCSO noted the electric unicycle can reach speeds of nearly 45 miles per hour, and riding it under the influence of alcohol on the street is a criminal offense.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol concentration measuring roughly two times the legal limit.
