A months-long drug trafficking investigation by the Seattle Police Department (SPD) narcotics detectives ended in the arrest of a 32-year-old convicted felon last week, SPD announced.

The SPD investigation began earlier this year while working on narcotics enforcement operations in downtown Seattle. SPD determined the suspect was a supplier for street-level drug dealers and started surveilling him.

Seattle drug trafficking investigation leads to arrest

Detectives conducted their surveillance on Aug. 20 at an apartment building in the 400 block of N.E. 165th Street in Shoreline.

According to the police report, detectives determined the area was “a safe harbor for illicit activity.” During the SPD surveillance, detectives found narcotics.

The drugs were submitted into evidence, and SPD continued its investigation. No suspects were arrested at the time.

On Aug. 21, the King County Superior Court approved a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and vehicles.

SPD detectives, along with the Seattle SWAT team, prepared to serve the search warrant on Aug. 26. Law enforcement saw the suspect driving his car from the Shoreline apartment building where narcotics were previously seized.

The suspect drove from Shoreline to the 10700 block of 14th Avenue S.W. in Seattle, where SWAT was able to arrest him.

As a result, SPD seized 1,990.5 grams of methamphetamine, 868.5 grams of fentanyl, 20.8 grams of cocaine, a handgun, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for multiple crimes that violated the Uniformed Controlled Substances Act for his possession with intent to deliver narcotics, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

As a convicted felon, the suspect is prohibited from having a firearm.
