Four teens are in custody and police are searching for two others, after a wild freeway chase and a shooting that targeted a Seattle officer.

It started around 9 p.m. Saturday on Aurora Ave. N., where police tried to pull over an erratically-driven Dodge Durango.

The vehicle sped off and officers did not pursue it.

Later, other officers, including police in unmarked vehicles, spotted the vehicle near I-5 and Corson Ave. S.

The driver of the SUV took off southbound on the freeway and as police chased it, someone in the Durango fired several shots at an officer in an unmarked car.

The officer was not hit, but another car was.

Investigators say bullet fragments from the shooting ended up in the lap of someone in that car.

Police followed the Durango to the S. 188th exit in Tukwila and performed a PIT maneuver, also known as a “Precision Immobilization Technique,” to stop it.

The vehicle ended up at the intersection of Military Rd. S. & S. 188th.

After the SUV came to a stop, officers made several arrests: three girls, ages 15 to 17, and a 16-year-old boy who had a warrant for felony robbery.

Two other male suspects ran off.

A police K-9 Unit tried to chase them, but they got away.

Several other police agencies in the area assisted with the search for the suspects that fled, but they were not located.

The Durango turned out to be stolen and officers recovered two handguns.

Later, a man turned up at Valley Medical Center in Renton with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Detectives are trying to figure out if his injury was related to the pursuit of the Durango and the suspects arrested.

The four teens in custody are likely facing charges of assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm and eluding.
