A man was stabbed near a Seattle homeless camp in what police are calling a “stranger on stranger” attack, and the suspect is still at large.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said officers responded to reports of a stabbing near the 1700 block of North 107th Street at about 8:50 a.m. Monday.

Officers found a man with a stab wound to his chest. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

“The incident, described as a ‘stranger on stranger stabbing,’ occurred on the border of a nearby tent encampment,” SPD stated in a blotter post. “The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, left the area before police arrived. Police searched the area but could not find him.”

Seattle police are investigating what led up to the assault near the tent encampment.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
