A 52-year-old man was allegedly assaulted during a street takeover in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood over the weekend.

Street racers took over the intersection at Denny Way and Broad Street just after 12 a.m. Sunday. According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), multiple cars were doing donuts and blocking traffic. A large crowd gathered to watch the sideshow, with some onlookers and attendees using Lime bikes and scooters to block cars from continuing through the intersection.

A 52-year-old man got involved when he tried to move a Lime scooter out of his way. He was assaulted by sideshow attendees, and his car was damaged.

Once SPD officers arrived, the gathering scattered. According to KIRO 7, multiple neighbors criticized the police department’s “slow response.”
