The Seattle Police Department (SPD) arrested a man after he lured a teenage girl off a bus, dragged her into the woods, and assaulted her.

At approximately 9 a.m. Monday, the suspect dragged the teenage girl into the woods near N.E. 103rd Street and 5th Avenue N.E. after she was lured off a bus. The suspect then fled the scene after police were contacted. Police found the victim with minor injuries.

“Firefighters treated the girl on scene and medics transported her to Seattle Children’s Hospital for evaluation,” SPD stated. “Detectives in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit (SAU) arrived to process the scene, interview witnesses, and collect evidence.”

Nearly two hours later, officers out on patrol found the suspect near Aurora Avenue N. and N. 115th Street. He was arrested at the scene and was brought in to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.

SPD discovered the suspect had multiple warrants for his arrest out of Snohomish County and Puyallup Municipal Court. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of rape and kidnapping.

“Today’s incident is unacceptable. Our children should be able to travel safely and enjoy their youth without fear. As a community, we need to fully support our victims now and in the future. We need to prosecute those responsible for stealing our most vulnerable people’s sense of safety, and work together to stop this from happening again,” SPD Chief Shon Barnes stated. “To victims of sexual assault, this city is here to support you. Please know that there are resources available at Seek Then Speak or the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center.”

Suspect had multiple warrants for his arrest

The suspect’s first warrant was for a 2024 arrest when he allegedly tried to steal a person’s bike in Shoreline, leading to a felony robbery investigation, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

The second warrant came a year later, when he was arrested for biting a security guard in a shoplifting incident. Then, earlier this year, the suspect was arrested for a Snohomish County domestic violence assault warrant. Police said he possessed fentanyl when he was arrested.
