Wanted sex offender arrested in Thurston County after brief chase

A convicted felon who failed to register as a sex offender was arrested in Thurston County Wednesday night.
According to Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders, Olympia police officers tried to stop a car for driving without headlights. The driver reportedly refused to pull over.
Sanders said a Thurston County deputy performed a PIT maneuver on the car after a brief chase. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Investigators later discovered he had an active warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
Sanders said the driver has seven previous felony convictions, including rape of a child.
