A 60-year-old man from Silverdale is facing a DUI charge after hitting a light pole.

The man hit a pole at the intersection of Central Valley Road and Bucklin Hill Road Northwest, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday via Facebook.

Silverdale man fails sobriety test

Deputies arrived at the scene just before 2:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

The driver told officers he misjudged the turn and slammed head-on into the pole. He then failed a field sobriety test, and a breathalyzer measured his blood alcohol level at nearly twice the legal limit.

Deputies booked the man into the Kitsap County Jail on suspicion of DUI.

“Don’t start the New Year with a DUI,” the sheriff’s office wrote in its post. “If you’re celebrating, select a designated driver or call a ride-sharing service. Drive sober and stay safe in 2026!”
