A 35-year-old man was stabbed in the back Monday morning outside a Ballard food bank.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers were called to the 1400 block of N.W. Leary Way for reports of a stabbing, according to KIRO 7.

Witnesses note brief altercation preceded the Ballard food bank stabbing

As officers arrived, they found the man suffering from a stab wound to his back. SPD administered medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department could arrive.

The man was eventually transported to Harborview Medical Center in an unknown condition.

Law enforcement arrested a 34-year-old suspect and recovered a blade at the scene.

Witnesses confirmed that the two men had a brief altercation before the stabbing.

SPD noted that its investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
