Man threatening people with gun arrested after SWAT standoff in Roosevelt

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood after he threatened people with a weapon.
At approximately 7:18 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a report of a man standing in the street waving a handgun at passersby in the 7800 block of Lake City Way N.E., SPD announced.
Officers arrived and located a black BMW stopped in the street. The vehicle was reported stolen, and officers saw a man sitting in the passenger seat holding a handgun.

SPD attempted to contact the man, but he appeared to be in a mental crisis or under the influence of an unknown substance. The suspect continued yelling and did not comply with the officer’s commands.
Officers called the Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT to respond. SWAT moved in on the suspect in an armored vehicle and took the man into custody without further incident.
SPD towed the vehicle to the North Precinct, and officers later served a search warrant, recovering a realistic black BB gun.
The suspect was transported to King County Jail and booked for investigation of felony harassment, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a felony warrant.
