Police are still searching for the killers of two teenage brothers in Lacey.

The two brothers, Alexander Borgen, 16, and Deven Borgen, 17, were found dead lying in a crosswalk after an alleged shooting in Lacey at approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning. According to Lacey Fire District 3, the first agency to arrive at the crime scene, they were found lying in the crosswalk with apparent gunshot wounds near the intersection of College Street and 24th Avenue S.E.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Over the weekend, friends of the brothers gathered at the spot where they died.

“He was just a kind-hearted person, really,” a close friend of Alex’s told KIRO 7. “He deserves better than this. And what happened is wrong. That night, Alex had actually called me and told me he was going outside with his brother.”

The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation has put up a $5,000 reward to help solve the case and raise funds for the Borgen family.

“To the Borgen family: We mourn with you. Your sons are not forgotten,” Daniel Chapin, the founder of The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, said in a statement obtained by KIRO 7. “The full weight of our immediate effort is focused on providing you with the financial support you need right now, and we are honored to ensure Alexander and Deven have a beautiful, permanent memorial in the Olympic National Forest. We ask everyone who can to contribute to the fundraiser and share this appeal to help us surround this family with the support and love they deserve.”

The fundraiser can be found here. The organization also plans to plant two trees in the teens’ honor at their Peace Youth Gun Violence Memorial.

The Lacey Police Department is gathering more evidence to determine what led to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lacey Police Department at (360) 456-7795.
