One teenager died while six other juveniles were injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Bremerton, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Seven minors, all male, were inside a 2023 Rivian SUV that was traveling “significantly” faster than the 25-mph limit that is posted on N.E. McWilliams Road Saturday night. The occupants were four 17-year-olds, two 18-year-olds, and a 16-year-old. The driver of the SUV eventually spilled off the road and struck a fence and trees.

“One 17-year-old male passenger was killed, and four other occupants sustained substantial injuries,” the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office stated. The deceased 17-year-old was identified as Bradley Mace.

GoFundMe launched after fatal crash

His cousin, Amber Valenzuela, created a GoFundMe to help raise money for his funeral expenses.

“His smile, his spirit, and the love he gave will never be forgotten,” Valenzuela wrote on the GoFundMe. “In his final moments, Bradley was not alone. A kind stranger stayed with him, praying over him and showing him compassion until help arrived. That love and humanity mean more to our family than words can express.”

Alcohol, drugs likely contributed to crash

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident as vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. According to the sheriff’s office, initial findings have led deputies to believe alcohol and drugs were used as contributing factors to the crash, in addition to reckless driving. Toxicology results are pending, as of this reporting.

“If there were other vehicles that would’ve been involved, it would’ve been even worse,” Ivan Winkler, a neighbor who heard the commotion, told KIRO 7. “But the damage that it did just shows the force the vehicle carried.”

Winkler revealed the area of the crash is a dangerous intersection, stating that something needs to change.

“It’s a blind hill,” Winkler said. There are several houses on either side. It is 25 miles per hour, and we can hear the people who are going a lot faster than that.”

Investigators are seeking witnesses, information, or video of the vehicle in the area before the crash. If you can help, please contact Deputy Rob Corn at rcorn@kitsap.gov.
