A Tenino High School student was arrested Thursday morning after the student allegedly made a threat to bring a firearm to the school.

On Wednesday night, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies received reports from a student who had overheard another student claiming they were going to bring a firearm to school on Thursday, TCSO Sheriff Derek Sanders stated.

In response, TCSO deputies obtained a witness statement and began to review surveillance footage at the high school.

With assistance from the Tenino Police Department and Tenino School District, the student who allegedly made the threat was identified through the surveillance footage.

Ultimately, deputies developed probable cause for threats to injure school property, and the juvenile student was placed under arrest ahead of the start of school on Thursday morning.
