A 16-time convicted felon was arrested again after the Tukwila Police Department conducted an undercover operation against the suspect.

Last weekend, the department was notified that several people had their tools and equipment stolen.

“The victims were devastated, as the stolen tools had effectively crippled their ability to earn a living and support their families,” the Tukwila Police Department stated. “The initial thefts occurred in several different jurisdictions in the region.”

The department’s Special Emphasis Unit promptly investigated the thefts, connecting the stolen items and the suspect to two commercial burglaries that had occurred in Federal Way and Kent. After this discovery, detectives within the unit conducted an undercover operation to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect had 16 prior felony convictions. He was previously arrested in 2021 for a very similar crime, during which police recovered thousands of dollars in stolen property.

The Tukwila Police Department, using both SWAT and a K9 unit, arrested him after he arrived at a commercial complex in a stolen pickup truck to allegedly collect $5,000 in exchange for stolen equipment.

“The sight of the K‑9 and verbal warnings prompted the suspect to immediately surrender rather than attempt to flee as he has in the past,” the Tukwila Police Department wrote. “This was a strong example of how a K‑9 can help de‑escalate a dangerous situation.”

Once the undercover operation was complete, detectives recovered more than $100,000 in stolen property. The department returned most of the stolen property to the rightful owners that very night.

“These types of incidents are exactly why the SEU team exists — allowing for long‑term problem solving through non‑traditional law enforcement strategies to help the community address persistent nuisances and crime,” the Tukwila Police Department said. “Our detectives worked nearly 24 hours straight to successfully execute this operation and will be filing several new felony charges against the suspect.”
