Seattle police have arrested a “prolific DUI driver.”

According to a post on the Seattle Police Department (SPD) Blotter, the 57-year-old man crashed into a pole near 23rd Avenue and East Cherry Street in the Central District at around 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14.

SPD said one of its lieutenants witnessed the crash.

Prolific DUI driver caught in the act

“The driver exited a parking lot, drove across four lanes of traffic, through a crosswalk, and hit a pedestrian signal pole on the northeast corner,” the post said. “The lieutenant determined the man was driving under the influence (DUI) and arrested him. He has a felony conviction for DUI and previous convictions for driving while license suspended 1st degree and an ignition interlock device violation.”

Police said the man’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

SPD said he was booked into the King County Jail for DUI-Four or More Prior Offenses, and Ignition Interlock Violation.

A judge set his bail at $750,000.
