Seattle man charged with burglarizing homes of Mariners, Seahawks, Dodgers players

A 21-year-old man from Seattle has been charged for allegedly burglarizing the homes of professional athletes.
Earl Riley has been charged with residential burglary for the homes of Seattle Mariners’ Julio Rodriguez and Luis Castillo, former Seattle Seahawk Richard Sherman, and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Blake Snell, according to a news release from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) Friday.
Rodriguez’s home was occupied during the burglary, as was Sherman’s. Therefore, Riley was also charged with robbery in the first degree for a victim inside Sherman’s home, the attorney’s office stated.

The investigation began in 2025, with the attorney’s office working with six different police jurisdictions at one point. It remains ongoing, and KCPAO noted additional charges may still be filed against other defendants.
“The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office worked for weeks on multiple search warrants that led to the filing of these felony charges today,” King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion said, via the release.
The burglaries were carried out by a crew that has been terrorizing people in the community, KCPAO stated. Riley was identified as the ringleader in the group, according to Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gary Ernsdorff.
“That doesn’t mean our work is finished,” Ernsdorff added. “We still want to go and identify everybody who was involved and see if there are additional people that we can have sufficient evidence to charge.”
Seattle man charged was previously in custody
Riley was previously in custody, but was released on February 7 after pleading guilty to three robbery counts, the attorney’s office stated. However, Riley had another pending King County Superior Court case, where he was charged with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree from events in May. He was subsequently booked into the King County Jail on Friday.
Riley is now being held on $1 million bail, with his next court date on June 16.
