Seattle officers are investigating a robbery that occurred at a West Seattle jewelry store at noon on Thursday.

Four masked suspects used hammers to smash the locked front door of Menashe and Sons Jewelers in the 4500 block of California Avenue Southwest. Once inside, the suspects smashed six glass display cases and stole around $2 million worth of jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

“One of the glass jewelry displays contained $700,000 to $800,000 in Rolex watches, another contained an emerald necklace valued at $125,000, and a platinum diamond. Two other display cases contained a large amount of gold jewelry,” an officer’s report stated.

During the 90-second robbery, a suspect pointed bear spray and a taser at employees while the others robbed the store, SPD reported. No one was harmed in the process.

A video of the robbery, provided by Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, can be viewed below.

West Seattle jewelry store owner: ‘You feel very violated’

“I don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” owner Josh Menashe told KIRO Newsradio. “The violation you feel from the robbery, the shock — you want to run. You want to hide. You feel very violated.”

Menashe said the staff is like family and the community has been continuously checking on them.

“We’re all rallying together and we’re going to be stronger in the long run,” he said.

Neighbor Keonii Maneha told KIRO Newsradio the store puts on fundraisers, has a holiday display, and is very involved in the West Seattle area.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Maneha shared. “They’re my landlords and I was in complete shock yesterday.”
