After Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Rey Delgado’s planned vacation to visit family turned into a relief effort. The Puerto Rico native, who now calls Seattle home, flew to Puerto Rico with 1800 pounds of relief supplies he collected through donation drives following the devastating hurricane. Rey spent three weeks distributing aid – from cash to baby supplies to flashlights – to ten different towns. Now back at home, he has continued his tireless aid work by connecting Catholic schools here to those in Puerto Rico as sister schools in need.
This selfless dedication is why KIRO Radio and your community credit union, WSECU, are proud to honor Rey Delgado as a Hometown Hero and award him with $2000! WSECU knows that when we come together as a community, we can do more. If you know of a Hometown Hero, an exceptional person who makes your community a better place to live, nominate that person at MyNorthwest.com/hero.
